WHAT IS EDGE?

EDGE is a Catholic middle school youth ministry program created specifically to reach out to the age group and lead them closer to Christ. We seek to provide an environment where the youth of Divine Mercy and beyond can encounter the life-changing love of God.

WHAT DO WE DO?

Edge is a dynamic, Christ-centered middle school program that incorporates fun and community-building activities with solid faith content and prayer experiences. The program provides a safe fun place for youth to find a solid Catholic community, to get answers to their questions about faith, and, most importantly, to experience Jesus in a profound and personal way The middle school youth at Divine Mercy has a range of opportunities to grow in Christ Jesus, including regular Edge meetings on Tuesday evenings during the school year, social nights and movie night, and diocesan events and retreat.

Edge answers the needs of this age group in a catechetical, fun, and relevant way and provides a foundation for youth to continue onto Life Teen

DIVINE MERCY MIDDLE SCHOOL EDGE MINISTRY REGISTRATION FORM 2023-2024

Purpose & Objective

Divine Mercy Catholic Church is committed to reach out to our young people with the truth of the Gospel. Providing them with a transforming experience of Jesus Christ for all youth to help them grow in their knowledge of Christ, and to nurture a burning desire to reach out to others in love with that knowledge.

The Directors of these ministries will work diligently to create a positive experience of the Catholic Church and assisting them to understand what the Catholic Church teaches and believes. They will also provide support to parents and their children. In order to keep the lines of communications open, the Youth Group staff will contact you from time to time to discuss how your child is doing and answer any questions you may have about the program.

General Behavior

Young people are expected to conduct themselves in a way that would be pleasing to God.

1. They are to refrain from using offensive language.
2. Youth are expected to refrain from using all illegal substances.
3. They are to build others up instead of tear them down (gossip)
4. They are to show respect for people and ideas.
5. All music used at the youth group will not contain offensive language, crude language, sexually explicit lyrics, and misuse God’s name.
6. Use of all electronic devices should cease during youth activities, meetings, etc.

EDGE Directors

The following safety procedures are designed to help ensure our EDGE ministry program to be Productive and enjoyable while providing a safe and caring environment.

The parishes will carefully screens volunteers who will be ministering in this program. Activities need to be appropriately supervised and guidelines should be followed to ensure a safe environment for youth.

1. Accurate records of attendance must be kept if there is ever a question of the presence of a young person at a particular event or meeting.
2. Youth ministry Directors are reminded that their responsibility for the youth exists from the time of arrival until the time of departure from parish premises.
3. Youth are never to be left unsupervised while attending any youth ministry function on the Parish premises.
4. Two responsible adults must remain with the youth until all youth have left the Church premises, including parking areas.
